Dia de Revisitas

Today we went to visit all of Chris and Lisa's return visit to invite them to the special talk being given Saturday by the visiting Circuit Overseer.

We drove out to what they call a campos, which is a small village outside of the city. This is a very large salt water lake that has crocodiles. Although it is a beautiful view the lake is rising and many have lost their farmland.

I (Michelle) met some of Lisa's bible students, and its almost hard to explain how much enthusiasm they show for learning the bible. When we arrive they immediately take out two chairs even if these are the only ones they have. This is our invitation to sit and talk, for really as long as we want. So after we sit they go and get out there bibles and sit and are ready to have a discussion.

This is a picture of Chris in the campos that we were working in the morning. They have a great view of the mountains as you can see. But its also very dry. Duverge is the hottest and driest part of Dominican because it is so far below sea level.

Again we had lunch and then a siesta....I see a very awesome new habit forming!!!!!!

The guys went out in service in the afternoon, Lisa and I chose to stay at home. I did some spanish reading...my new verbs are preparo, prepare, tome, tomo......so i will use these in sentences tomorrow.

Gray went out this afternoon with Chris, to visit his bible students and invite them to the meeting on Saturday. I think it best he tell you how much fun he had.

Experiences by GRAY:

Working here is so exciting you can talk to everyone! Which is exactly what Chris does, if you move and can speak or even listen he will talk to you about the bible. Everyone knows him here as EL Pastor.......Its overwhelming to see how little the people have, but how much love and appreciation they have for learning spiritual things. An example of this, one man had a house made of sticks, he had only 2 chairs and there was only a bucket with a fire in it that was his stove. this stove was left in his yard to use. This man said to us "the most important things in life are First, God then Baseball then food but first and always is his faith in God" Chris and I laughed a little at the order of things he felt important, but I think his expression really sums up what he true feelings are.

We arrived back home around 7pm, feeling mucho felicidad! (very happy)

A typical house, made of wood and some concrete but with a very large satellite dish....they all have TV and internet and cell phones. Which is strange when they don't even have bathrooms inside there home.

This home is where a Haitian Man lives that Chris visits. Do you think we have a good life in Canada?
This is the Haitians bathroom........

This is his fire pit for cooking......
