That means removing all the furniture from inside the Kingdom Hall and wiping down everything.
Spider webs and other creepy crawlies are what we need to clean. So all the chairs have to be wiped down....and let me tell you I have not developed any kind of love for spiders!!!
The brothers have taken two broom handles attached them together to make this extended poll for cleaning the vaulted ceilings.
All the windows have metal slates that needed to be washed down....again spiders!!
I think all the sisters got a good laugh at me because they always new when I saw a spider!
We started cleaning at 8 am because it takes several hours to get it all done and all the brothers and sisters quit at 11 am to go home for lunch.
This is Andrea, and she is a very good example for us. She suffers from Schizophrenia, a sever case.
Most things she says and does the brothers smile and say OK because she is very sick and doesn't realize what is really going on. The brothers take very good care of her and treat her with great dignity, they all understand that its the illness talking and not our dear sister.
Despite this you can see that she loves Jehovah very much, she is regular at meetings and came to help clean. I look forward to really getting to know our dear sister when in the future there will be no more mental illness.
This is Elizabet, she is a bible student who is making great progress. She is almost done the Bible teach book and is at all the meetings. She has expressed interest in becoming a publisher soon.
She is young I think only 13 years old, but her comments and her expressions are very much beyond her years.
She came on a Sunday to help clean even when other brothers didn't show and she worked hard!!!

Working hard?!....or hardly working?!....you be the judge.....
They love the camera.....
That is another home made stick with a broom attached at the end for cleaning the vaulted ceiling.
Check out the shoes.......only in the DR!!
Gralyn spray painting the doors.
Jose (on the left), we have talked about him before. He is the older brother in our congregation that worked harder then anyone we know on the construction project.
We recently found out he is older then we all thought and he works harder and longer in the heat then any of us...including US!!
In case you are all worried that we are starving or that we have nothing to eat here is our vegetables and fruit all cleaned and ready to eat!!
All of this was only $6 ....can you believe it!?
We also have found a local fisherman and got 6 fresh fish from him.
I asked them to come cleaned and head removed because I didnt think I could handle doing it.
So as ordered they were gutted and headless.
They are Tilapia. They taste good, but they have lots of bones so you need to eat it carefully.
Tarantula number 3 found in our home......
Can you see my gecko friend that found a home in my umbrella???
On Monday we had planned to go to Barahona for a visit to the beach and to stop and get groceries. We got up early and we were both really excited about going, we have been in the DR for 105 days and not visited the beach once yet!!! And we were getting a little stir crazy and needed a change of scenery. So we walked down to the guagua stop and got on, we got as far as Cabral which is only 20 minutes from Barahona and got stopped on the highway. It was closed...turns out the town was protesting and preventing cars, trucks buses everything from passing. So as we were turning around the protestors were throwing rocks and sticks whatever they could find at our bus. They meant business. We asked what they were protesting about and its crazy...it was about FISH!!!
Yes FISH, it seems that they are catching a lot of fish in Cabral but taking to Barahona and selling making it hard for the people of Cabral to purchase it and they wanted this to stop.
So not sure how it has been resolved but it seems the protest ended after a few days. It is the only road to get to other areas of the island so we knew that the protest wouldnt last long, but it certainly ruined our plans for the day.
So one of the things that we have started is"Friday Night Games Night"
Every Friday at 8 pm the young people in our congregation come over and we play cards, or dominios or a board game. Its been working out really well, because we all go in service together at 5pm and end up at our house at the end of service. We might even try some bible charades.....if any of you have any ideas about some card games that are really easy (remember we have to translate the instructions in spanish) please send us your ideas!!!
Tonight we are also going up the mountain to the river for a little congregation get together. We pack our own dinner and blanket and buckets of bug spray we are really looking forward to it!! We will take lots of pictures and be sure to post them tomorrow.
Hope you are all doing well, look forward to hearing from you!
