We have arrived safely!
Well here it is April 7th and we have arrived in our new home country. We have to admit we never thought that this would actually happen. We left Smithville at 2:30am for the Buffalo airport....we arrived in Buffalo at 5:30am....we almost missed our 6am flight! We were on a shuttle bus with 11 other people. When we got to the border they wanted us to go into the office. All of us except one couple were in and out in 5 minutes. They kept the couple for close to an hour holding us all up!
And for the silliest reason...he is a photographer and he brought his camera and laptop with him on vacation...Most normal people would think you need these on vacation to capture the memories...but NO, the American Border Patrol could only assume he is traveling to work!
So finally when the couples bikini's proved they were on vacation we were off and racing. We arrived at Buffalo at 5:30am and ran to the counter. We begged the check in lady to do whatever she could for us, she scrambled and checked in our luggage, she also called and said we were on our way and that our bags were coming. She did also say that she could not guarantee that our bags would make this flight but that we could pick them up tomorrow if they didn't make it.
We ran through the airport...first through security where my bobbie pins set off some alarm and the lady had to pat down my head! I would like to know what is in my bobbie pins???
So we grabbed our stuff, I didn't have time to put on my shoes we just ran, and as we approached the gate the lady said you have 1 minute!
Once in the plane I don't think that Gray and I could relax, we weren't sure if the luggage would be there...we just had to rely on Jehovah and hope for the best.
Well it all turned out great, we landed in Santo Domingo and our luggage was there! We breezed through customs (now that we have residency) the customs officer wished us a great day :)
Our new friends Stephanie and Alf were there waiting for us and we were brought safely to there B&B. We are so glad that they were available to help us.
Well we didn't get much sleep last night and we are really tired, so we will write more later and hope all of our friends back home are doing well. TTYS G&M
