Our first unwanted guest.....

Its been a busy week, we have been going in the service for a few hours everyday. We are still adjusting to the heat. Its been sunny and on average 35 degrees. Even the Dominicans think its really hot for the time of year. We are having so much fun in service. The people here are so eager to hear what the bible has to say. So many of them have gone to church but no one ever shows them where the scriptures are and most don't own a bible. Its to early to say whether our Spanish is improving, but I think in time it will get better. We try to study a little everyday, and obviously we get to practice a lot! This is the vegetable market I was telling you about. Its the size of a closet, but she usually has the best produce. This is why our power gets shut off so often. People "borrow" the electricity from the street. As you can see they have installed a plug and a light socket....not sure what for, but likely so that they don't have to pay for it. This was the area of town that we were working in service. We found many home and had some great conversations here. A sister in our congregation named Andrea invited us and Kelsey and Desiree over for coffee after service. She owns a bird. Gray tried to get close, but the bird didn't seem to like him. We all laughed cause as Gray would move closer the bird moved slowly in the opposite direction. Last night we went over to Kelsey and Desiree's to play some games. When we came home this is what we found in our dining room! Thankfully I didn't notice it right away or who knows what the neighbors would have thought about all the screaming. So as you may have figured it out...this is a tarantula. Gray was trying to make me feel better by saying it was only a baby, this was not reassuring at all. So it seems that the large gaps under our doors to the outside world are now on our top priority to fix. Because if that was a baby...I don't want to meet its mother!!! Today I made a new friend, she is the grand-daughter of a couple in our congregation. She is so adorable.... Can you notice that she is wearing little high healed shoes...and she is only 1 years old!!!! We are having a great time, life here is so different. Its actually hard to adjust to the simple life. Gray and I sometimes feel lazy, but we soon get over that feeling cause we are just having to much fun! We will write soon,

  1. Thanks for the blog updates; the photos help visualize what you're describing. Hope you're victorious over the wildlife, and continue to enjoy your ministry.
