Gray and I have been having such a great time. The Dominican people are warm and friendly and are never too busy to talk. We have enjoyed getting to know there way of life. They appreciate the small things realizing that things don't bring you happiness.
Today we were in the service and had a great time working along with our zealous brothers. I am still in awe at how much time they devote in the ministry. So I thought it would be nice to introduce to you some of the people that we have met along the way while in the ministry.
Alexander (who you met yesterday on the blog) and his little sister.
the kids are usually naked from the waist down...sometimes totally naked! remember it is hot here LOL
This is David, he is Haitian and one of Chris's return visits. David loves to play the guitar. Gray offered to tune it for him not realizing that the guitar is broken and it will unlikely ever be able to be tuned properly.
But I think David was just happy that someone was interested in him and the things that he likes.
Gray made a friend for life!
Gray has learned all the craziest hand shakes that the Dominican's use.
This one we are familiar with but I am sure when we get home he will educate us on all of them!
This is the local bakery. they prepare the bread on the table you see on the left hand side of the picture and then it is baked in the oven....in addition to not eating meat (as you have learned why) Lisa has become a very good baker and makes her own bread, cause you never really KNOW what's in your loaf from here....
Remember we told you Chris will talk to everyone, a good habit of course. So the 4 of us were about to leave the Kingdom Hall when Chris just jumped out of the car and ran over to this man walking by.
Chris recognized that he was Haitian and they are making real efforts to preach to them in Duverge. So as we were waiting Lisa listened to the conversation. Chris invited the man to the meetings by saying 'Many people go there' as he pointed to the Hall. However when he got in the car Lisa said told us what he actually said was 'A bunch of nobody's go there'
We laughed so hard we cried, but what a good example of taking every opportunity to offer a witness. Chris get's the gold medal for sure!!
We will huff and puff and blow this house down!!!
Its hard to see but this house is nearly falling over. It is leaning so far to the front of the house, instead of rebuilding which would be expensive they have added the 3 beams in the front to hold it upright!
Hey Dad (Denis) if you were to go in and sneeze I think it would be demolished :)
There are sellers of just about everything here. This man is selling homemade Popsicle outside a public school. You might think that they sound really good especially in this hot country......but we have seen them being made and you DEFINITELY do not want to try them!
Instead Lisa and Chris have taken us to a great ice cream shop here in Duverge where you can eat with out getting the bubonic plague !
